Job 22:28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
How many times did you read of Jesus in the Gospels kneeling down and asking God to heal or deliver one from oppression – “Lord, I’d like for You to heal this leper” or “Open these blind eyes, if it is Your will to deliver this one”? He didn’t do that. He just spoke the Word!
Do you remember the centurion that came to Jesus (Matthew 8:5-10)? He wanted Jesus to heal his servant. Jesus was willing to go to his house and heal the servant but the centurion said, “I am not worthy that You should come under my roof; speak the Word only and my servant shall be healed.” Jesus responded, “I have not found so great faith in all of Israel.” Jesus decreed the Word!
Peter and John, going up to the temple, didn’t fall on their faces praying that God would heal the lame man at the gate Beautiful. Peter focused his eyes on him and said, “In the name of Jesus Christ rise up and walk!” (Acts 3:1-7). Peter decreed the Word!
Do you believe that God can do anything? That isn’t hard to do. Do you believe that He can do it through you? That is where you have a problem. You have so much unbelief in your hearts yet. You have trouble believing in your relationship with the Lord and in what He can or is willing to do through you. You say, “I know what I am. I know what is in my flesh. Surely, God can’t use me.” Listen, God knew what you were before He ever called you. Don’t impose your limitations on God. Will you set your heart to believe? Will you say, “Here I am, Lord. I’ll be Your channel; flow through me”? Do not limit the Lord with your unbelief!
“Thou shalt also decree a thing!” Most Christians usually don’t decree anything. They wish for things and hope for things, but they don’t make decrees. That requires work and sacrifice, because what is decreed must be the will of God. Most Christians are too lazy to seek God until they know His will and then proclaim it with faith.
“I wish God would do so and so. I hope He will. I am trying to have faith for God to do it.” You will never have enough faith that way. “Well, every man is given a measure of faith. The Bible says so (Romans 12:3).” Yes, do you know what a measure of faith means? It is limited faith. A measure is limitation. It is God’s will for you to always have a little less faith than you need, so that you will reach into Him for more. That is how you grow spiritually.
“If a thing is God’s will, it will all come together, won’t it?” Not necessarily. If it is His will, there will be tremendous battle against it. God’s will is the one thing the enemy is trying hardest to block. “Well, I see the door there in front of me and I believe it is God’s will for me to go through that door, but it is locked.” Then, kick it down! At some point there has to be the intensity in our hearts to become the will of God and let Him move through us. “Yeah, but I want God to do things for me.” That is the attitude of most Christians. It is not God’s will to do everything for you. He wants you to become the channel for His movings. He wants you to work with Him. He will not bring about His will in the earth apart from His people. That is the purpose of the Body of Christ.
“Thou shalt also decree a thing!” We need to learn how to speak the Word. Did Jesus walk up to the fig tree and pray for God to curse it (Matthew 21:18-20)? No, He spoke to the tree Himself. Do you know what the fig tree represents? In the Old Testament it represented Israel. Today it represents Christians. The Lord expected fruit from the fig tree. You could say, “Well, it wasn’t the season for figs.” The Word says to be instant in season and out of season (II Timothy 4:2). God expects us to be fruitful all of the time. It is time for us to fruitful, but we are not going to be fruitful as long as our prayers are asking God to do things for us instead of saying, “Here I am, Lord. I’ll be Your feet, I’ll be Your hands, and my mouth is Your mouth.” When there is a willingness in your heart to be a carrier of the Lord’s presence into every situation, you will find the Holy Spirit working in your life to make it a pure channel for the Lord. We must work, but we must not work apart from His presence. The Lord is not interested in us doing anything for Him. He wants us to become one with Him that He might work through us.
Amos 3:7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but He reveals His secret unto His servants the prophets.
God doesn’t do anything without revealing what He wants done to His servants. Why? because they are the ones He needs to work through. He does not want you to do things for Him; He wants you to be a willing channel for Him to accomplish His will. The Lord is doing the work but He needs servants to work through. Are you willing to just be a channel? Are you willing to decree a thing? “What does He want decreed?” If you are willing to be what He wants you to be, He will reveal it to you. If any man wills to do His will, he shall know… John 7:17.
“Thou shalt also decree a thing!” What is hindering your walk with the Lord? What is the limitation in your way? Speak to it! Bind it! Decree its obliteration!
Mark 11:22 And Jesus answering said unto them, Have faith in God.
The Greek reads, Have the faith of God. Your measure of faith is limited. You must reach into God’s faith so that it is His faith working through you. Paul spoke of this in Galatians 2:20. I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.
Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he said shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he said.
Jesus didn’t say, “If you pray about it,” but “Whosoever shall say.” Is your limitation as big as a mountain? Decree it removed! Cast it into the sea!
Job 22:28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.
Decree the will of God and the light of revelation will come unto you. Light shall shine upon your ways. Start decreeing the will of God and watch your path begin lighting up.
