Thankful

We have been blessed beyond measure. Sometimes it blows my mind because I realize how unworthy we are. God has been showing us what our flesh nature is like. It’s not a new thing; our flesh nature has always been like that. David was aware of it when he said, “In sin did my mother conceive me” (Psalm 51:5). He was as much of a sinner two seconds after he was born as he was after any sinful act he ever did. The nature of man is sin. God’s grace and mercy toward us have been almost beyond belief. “While we were yet sinners Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). He opened the door for us when we were most unworthy. That hasn’t changed. We are most unworthy now, yet He is making Himself available to us.

I am thankful. I am thankful for the opportunity to worship Him, thankful to walk with Him, and to serve Him. How many people have had this opportunity? “He came unto His own and His own received Him not” (John 1:11). The majority of His own people have closed the door to Him; they are just not interested in walking with Him. As Demas did, they like this present age too much (II Timothy 4:10). We were that kind of people before God changed us. Now ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light: which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God; which have not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. I Peter 2:9-10.

O God, we are so thankful! Make us more aware of Your righteousness, Your divine nature, and Your wonderful presence. Make us more aware of what You are so that we will become even more thankful than what we are. I feel so thankful. Yet I know it is not enough. Lord Jesus, be our thankfulness.
