Zeal

Leviticus 6:9,13 Command Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law of the burnt offering: It is the burnt offering, because of the burning upon the altar all night unto the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be burning in it.
13 The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.

This portion of scripture presents a very important truth concerning the zeal of our hearts toward the Lord. As we know, the offering typifies the offerer. Therefore, we are the burnt offerings that are presented to the Lord. It is the zeal of our hearts, in dedication to Him, that is the soothing aroma in His nostrils.

The command is for the fire, the zeal, on the altar of our hearts to never go out. How often we have seen people open their hearts to the Lord, and in their spiritual youthfulness have such zeal unto God in their devotion. Then some of the older saints come along and throw water on the fire of their zeal. It seems that some people are determined to keep the church in a state of deadness.

It is important for us to keep the fire of our zeal burning through the night until morning. We all have night experiences at times, but even in those moments of darkness and gloom the flame must continue to burn. Victories are won by those who never let the fire on the altar of their hearts die out.
